TAMERA CAMPUS INFRASTRUCTURE BUILDING SITE JAN 2016

As a central base station for the Global Campus Network, we gave a grant to Tamera for an infrastructure building site, enhancing Tamera’s capacity to host students and guests in its Campus area. The 4 week construction phase in February was part of the “School Mirja” Peace Education of Tamera. The building site was held as an educational program for more then 30 participants with an accompanying seminar from Sabine Lichtenfels (Tamera co-founder) and Thomas Lüdert (head of Tamera’s infrastructure team) to combine the material and immaterial phases of manifestation. It is a deep research question of ours how we interweave the material and immaterial realization of a vision in all phases, therefore we saw this project serving both the material enhancement of Tamera’s facilities and an educational purpose to these ends.

Tamera is the first Healing Biotope “in process” and as such – with several thousands of students per year – a major education site for the Healing Biotopes vision and trust-based community-building in Europe. The demand for Tamera’s education in numerous areas of its work has been constantly growing over the past years, rising to one of the community’s top priorities. We therefore regarded the improvements of the facilities as an adequate response.

The alterations to the Campus infrastructure improved the utilities and made the whole area a more beautiful, inviting, inspiring and vivid space for students and guests. The support made the following possible:

  • a new gathering and eating area, including waterproof shade roofs and garden beds
  • renovation of an old storage room into a calm lounge space giving room for study groups to meet during day time as well as serving as a living room in the evenings
  • improvements to the seminar rooms (new carpets and sound system)
  • full renovation and upgrade of the Campus kitchen (providing food for up to 150–200 people per day)
  • renovation of and new equipment for communal dormitories
  • Improvements and extensions of the water system including new storage tanks, drainage tubes/channels and irrigation for the surrounding gardens
