We supported the Favela da Paz in the purchase of a plot of land as an infrastructure investment for their planned educational and cultural center. We feel this supports the crystallization of a complex model, uniting architecture, education, work with international specialists and arts. Also, this step will help Claudio and Helem, the two founders of the Favela da Paz, to further grow their reputation in the favela, expand their work in physical space and thus grow their capacity to offer education for social change. The Favela da Paz’s reputation is also a protection from the development plans of capitalist interests.
The purchase of the land motivated a group of international specialists to start the design phase of a state-of-the-art ecological building.
